Papa's right handed

Papa, that's me, is really right handed. I've always known that to be true, but I'm getting to realize just how much it's so this week. I had surgery yesterday on my right thumb, and I have my right hand in a cast.

There are simple things that have a different degree of difficulty now that I am limited to my left hand. Brushing my teeth is a challenge. I'm clumsy, but I can get it done. Combing my hair is almost impossible with my left hand. I'm going to have to find a way to get it done with just the fingers on my right hand. Men's zippers are made for right handed men. Let's hope there are no emergencies in the next week. I'm really slow at getting my trousers open. Buttoning buttons is a challenge for me, but it can be done.

It makes me grateful for the human body. I am amazed at the complexity of the machinery, but even more amazed at how it can heal itself when it is damaged.

I was amazed with the surgery. I went under anesthesia long enough for the Dr. to make the incisions, then they brought me out andwoke me up to use the thumb to insure that it was functioning. I vaguely remember talking to them. The next thing I new, I was in recovery and within an hour I was headed for home.

Update

Just wanted to let you know Marcy's surgery went very well. Her doctor took out a 2+ cm tumor out of the back of the knee on the 'fat pad', which turned out to be non-cancerous, and did some repair on the cartiage on the back of the kneecap. So all is improving for her. The doctor said he had never seen such a thing on a knee before. We know the Lord blessed her with healing.

0ur Family- continued

When we lived in Romeo, where Larry was born, Donnie had rheumatic fever and had St Vitus Dance which caused him to have great tremors. He couldn't hold a spoon. He had a priesthood blessing and was instantly healed of the st vitus dance.

While we lived there Arlo had a pinched nerve in his spine and was in terrible pain. Richard, Arlo's brother and his wife Roxanne and Gerald Lynn came to visit us there. Larry and Gerald Lynn were both blessed at church. When Richard and family left, they took Arlo to Grand Junction to the veterans hospital and left him there. He was there in traction for about a month and then they moved him to Denver, where he had surgery on his back. He was home in about 2 weeks.

While he was in Grand Junction, I moved us to Manassa. In Romeo he had worked for Thales Smith. and the house was no longer available to us. Arlo wasn't very happy about that, but he learned to love Manassa.

Donnie recovered from the rheumatic fever and was active all of his life.

In Romeo is where we lived when the snake bit Kent. Nona and Audrey were at our house when that happened. Calvin must have been with you boys. You were playing in an irrigation ditch which ran through that property. I did't know what kind of snake it was that bit him. We took him to the doctor and he said if it had been a rattle snake it would be swollen. He didn't seem to have any after efects of it.

When it Rains it pours

Well I'm sure you have heard the saying ...
Marcy and Troy had to take Jason to the hospital and this morning at 6:30 Monday, He had his appendix operated on! They spent the night from 7:30 - 3:30 in La Jara, then transfered to Alamosa for the operation. OH MY! It sounds like he is doing okay.
