Bloggin'

The kids are gone, from our empty house
So here I sit with laptop and mouse
Reading entries from many blogs
Trying to replace missing hugs
By writing thoughts about the past.

I've written about kids at school,
I've remembered recipes that made me drool.
I've shared pictues of yard and friends
I've written poetry that never ends.
I've tried to get my word in last.

Tonight, the screen is rather sparce.
I cannot share another farce
In hopes that someone will jot a line
To acknowledge some feeling of mine.
It's time to go and get some rest.

Perhaps tomorrow I'll find the way
To say the things I long to say.
Maybe time will help me see
Something I can share with thee
So in my heart you'll be a guest
As hearing from you I love best.

I check the screen every night.
I check and hope for a delight.
I get sad when there is no word.
I am sure that you have heard.

Next week schools will start.
Next week Eric wild depart.
Our new gutters were hung today.
A break in the rain made a nice day.

I filled my screen with some old words.
I wish for others newfound words.
It is the time to write the thought.
For the connection longtime sought.

I know what you can share with me.
I now can clearly see.
Share the simple thoughts of today.
Share it all is what I say.

Our time here on Earth is short.
Not much time for a retort.
Don't regret not speaking out.
Stand on your rooftop and shout.

If you don't do it today.
It will happen in no way.
Wanting something with no work.
You will find will never work.

Who do you love the best.
Tell them with the rest.
Tell them with simple phrases.
Tell them with lofty praises.

I love you and Mom and Betty.
I love Arlo, Craig, and Cory.
I love Brian, Eric, and Julie.
I love Anita, Brian, and Shandi.

I could make a very long list.
I could not hold it in my fist.
I am glad that God loves me.
My brother I am glad for thee.
