it is a good day in my life

When I get to thinking about life I am grateful for a couple more years. The reason being that all of the Vance name people died before they were 61!!!

It really changes your perspective on life when you realize that there are more years behind you than ahead of you. I guess that's why it is so important to me to make the most of every day.

I really have appreciated the effort everyone has made to share thoughts and memories on the blogs. It has really been nice to have this outlet.

When I look at those that I knew and are gone I get a little melancholy. We are getting to be the older generation. One day at a time we get closer to that event.

There was a time when I felt invincible. I suppose that I am getting a bit dramatic here, but I look and see my world going away one person at a time.

With this perspective maybe it is easier to come to a determination of what really is important.

Knowing what is important, and then doing something about what is important may also be disjunct. Hopefully I can overcome my slothfulness and selfishness and make some positive contributions to those around me.

It is true that the older we get, the more we think of our lives and where we are going. As I look back I realize that there were many great times. As I look forward, the most important thing in my life is my family. I want to know each of you better. I already love every person that the Lord gave me as a family. Grandm Gatha

I am grateful that I have had the time I have had. I wonder sometimes when my sojourn here will be over. Even though I am the youngest of our family I think at times that I may be the first to go to another dimension. I do not desire this outcome, but that is what I sometimes feel will be.

I think all four of us are coming to a time in our lives when we have to deal with our mortality. I know that when I had my cancer surgery last year, I was not sure I would see my family again. I am grateful for every day, but know that one day my life here will be over.

None of us really knows when our time will come. We have had two funerals in two weeks in our ward. I don't know when my time will come, but I pray that I can make the most of the time I have left.
